Student Food Insecurity is All Too Common

Multiple surveys show over 1/3 of college students experienced food insecurity in the last 30 days, and about half of students have turned to food banks at some point. These students also tend to have lower grades and be more like to withdraw prior to graduation. A proposal to make students eligible for SNAP (food stamps) from 2021 never made it to a vote.
